Scott Andrew Carey

With heavy hearts, Scott Andrew Carey, 54 passed away unexpectedly at his home in Las Cruces, NM.

Scott was born in Aberdeen, WA to Raymond E Carey and Judith A Carey (Preston).

Scott met his wife Mindy (Nations) in high school and knew she was the one that he would marry. They had two beautiful children together: A son, Chase of New Mexico and a daughter, Madisyn of Arizona. Scott was a true family man. He couldn’t wait to get home to see his family and have his wife’s homemade dinner. Scott’s family was always his number one priority. He was an extremely attentive, caring and involved father and husband.

Scott was an impressively talented man that knew how to fix almost anything. He built his own beautiful home in NM surrounded by wonderful neighbors. Building their own home was a dream that he and his wife Mindy shared together.

Scott inherited his love of fixing, building things and sports from his dad, Ray. Scott loved playing basketball as a kid/teenager, and then later he became a referee in the game he loved. He also loved getting together to eat and watch every Seahawks game with his family and friends.

In his younger days, he loved to accompany his mom, Judy on one of her many hikes with the Olympian Hiking Club. He inherited her passion for being in nature. Scott loved to explore the Pacific Northwest wilderness then later in life, the New Mexico desert.

Scott had other passions, such as restoring Ford Mustangs with his son Chase. He also shared his love of construction with his daughter Madisyn as they both are Project Managers in that field.

Scott graduated from Aberdeen High School and Grays Harbor College. A few years later he graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor in Environmental Science.

Scott is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mindy, his son Chase and daughter Madisyn, his parents Ray and Judy Carey, his sister Diane and her husband Matthew, his mother-in-law Darla Nations, brother in laws and their wives, Mark and Marci Nations, Jeff and Karyn Nations and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by all of his grandparents and his father-in-law Duane.

Scott will forever be loved and missed as we all navigate this life without him.
