Scott K. Porter, age 64, passed away June 7, 2026, at Mountain View Hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

He was born March 27, 1962, in Hutchinson, Kansas, one of three children of the late Ben Porter and LeVan Porter-Huff.

Scott graduated from Oklahoma Christian College with a degree in Radio/Television Communications and Journalism. He later graduated from Pepperdine University Law School with his Juris Doctorate in 1988. He chose not to practice law before the bar, but instead went into corporate law for several different large corporations in southern California. Among these were Brunswick Corporation, Fluor Daniel Incorporated, Parker Hannifin Corporation and Microsemi Corporation.

Scott never married. In 2012 he moved to Las Cruces in semi-retired status. He lived with and cared for his dad, Ben, for several years before he passed away in April of 2019.

Scott is survived by one sister, Janet Shaw of Las Cruces, New Mexico; one brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Stanna Porter, of Las Cruces, New Mexico; five nephews, Jeremy, Ryan and Chris Porter, Brandon and Kevin Shaw; one niece, Katrina Shaw-Gall; ten great nieces and nine great nephews. Scott will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Scott’s memorial will be held at Getz Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
