Socorro Poling Cox passed peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2013 lovingly surrounded by her family. She was born in Mexico on May 19, 1943 to Alberto and Micaela Martinez. She retired from TRESCO after many years of faithful service as a care-giver. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Sookie as she was fondly known, was an avid gardener, and took great pride in the garden she tended to. She nurtured plants with the same attention and skill that she gave her children, grand-children and great grand-children. She was a great cook and baker. Red chili with meat was her specialty and our favorite! Socorro was preceded in death by her parents as well as brother Pedro, and two children John and Mary. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children Donald and wife Valerie (John Paul and Erika), Jimmy and Wife Denise (Jaime and Daniel), Debra, Donna (Michael, Richard, and Ashley) Richard (Richard and Lauren), Kenneth (Kenneth and Alexia). Great-Grand children Haley, Hope and Myra, and Rikki. She is also survived by Debra Chavez, Monica Silva and children Sammy, Angelina, and Matthew; Sisters Antonia, Katie, Terry, Delfina, and Josie as well as a brother Alberto. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Getz Funeral Home. Honorary Pallbearers are John Paul, Michael, Richard, KC and Sammy. PDF Printable Version
