Stephen Russell Luke

Stephen Russell Luke 79, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of Dec 27th, 2025, in Las Cruces, NM. Stephen grew up in Palo Alto, CA. Son to Lyle and Roberta Luke. The middle of three siblings with Patricia, the oldest by a couple years, and Robert a younger brother by only one year.

Stephen was a living legend to all he came across. He joined the Navy at the young age of 17 and went to Vietnam where he became a fire chief, steamfitter and more importantly played for the troops in the USO band, plane hopping from base to base.

Once stateside he met his wife Janis while visiting his brother in San Luis Obispo, CA. 53 years later, 2 sons, 4 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, Stephen and Janis still remained together as one. Stephen enjoyed family, riding his Harley alongside his son, playing music with his best friends, as well as spending time with both sons. He loved his family, outdoors, fishing, camping and windsurfing. He was the ideal husband, father, brother, and mentor.

He will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Services are schedule for Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Getz Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 am.
