Susanne Margaret (Fisher) Quintana passed away peacefully at home in the care of hospice and her loving family on July 17, 2018, after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Sue was 70 years old and is survived by her husband Tony of nearly 40 years, her son Darren and wife Alice, her 3 daughters Hayley, Kelly and Toni and husband Ben, as well as her younger brother, Mike and wife Libby and children, and extended family.
Sue was born on December 24th, 1947, in Germany to Mother Dorothea and Father William. Sue and her mother moved to Clacton-on-Sea, England (her true home), along with her father, shortly after Sue’s birth. Sue grew up and completed school in Clacton, and met and married her first husband, Keith, in 1968. They moved to Bury St. Edmunds a year later with son Darren, where daughters Hayley and Kelly were born. They were divorced in 1978. Sue later met husband Tony, an airman in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Mildenhall AFB, and they were married in 1979. Sue and children immigrated to the U.S. when Tony was restationed to Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM, the state of his birth. Tony was later honorably discharged from the Air Force, and daughter Toni was born. The family stayed in Albuquerque until 1984 and then relocated to Las Cruces, NM when Tony took a job with Lockheed Martin at White Sands Missile Range, where he worked until his retirement. They remained in the Las Cruces area for the rest of their lives together until Sue’s passing.
Sue enjoyed traveling and gardening with Tony, and spending time with family and friends. She loved their quiet home in the valley, surrounded by trees and farmland. She was a loving wife and mom, and a wonderful cook, especially during the holidays. Her Christmas meals were an event looked forward to by family each year. Sue, mom, is remembered for her big smile, her love of life, her amazing cooking, the beautiful home she maintained with Tony, and her love of England, Agatha Christie mysteries and British humor, and cups of English tea. She is loved and missed dearly by her entire family and friends.
Cremation services have been provided by Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces, NM, and her ashes remain in the loving care of her family.
