Sybil Roberta Jones (nee-Underwood) passed away February 17 th , 2026 at the age of 93. She was born January 31 st , 1933, in Steeple Bumpstead, England to Robert and Alice Underwood. Sybil met her American soldier, Louis Jones, in an English pub. They were married in 1954. Being a military wife for 22 years, they traveled back and forth from military bases in England, Louisiana, Florida, Arizona and New Mexico. Together they had 2 children, Linda and Ricky. In 1973, they retired in Orlando, FL. Louis worked for Sanford County and Sybil worked at the Rio Pinar Country Club with her childhood friend, Jill, who had also married an American. They moved from Orlando in 2002 to Las Cruces, NM to be closer to their daughter. They lived at Trails West in Las Cruces. Louis passed away in 2008. Sybil enjoyed playing many card games, bingo and arts/crafts with the many friends she made at Trails West. Sybil is survived by her daughter Linda (Kent) Nelson of Las Cruces, NM and sister Shirley Scotton of Steeple Bumpstead, England. Grandchildren, Zachary (Jennifer) Nelson, Halee Nelson (Darby), Derek (Courtenay) Jones, Erin (Patrick) Woodworth. Great-children Alex (Cadence) Nelson, Charlotte Lindsey, Lane Lindsey, Ryder Jones, Everly Jones, Bryan Woodworth and Ashley Woodworth. Great-great grandson Uriah Nelson. Sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jones and Wanda Cagle, brother-in-law Arlin Childers. Sybil was preceded in death by her husband Louis C. Jones, son Ricky L. Jones and sister Peggy Cook.
