Sylvia Garcia Escalante

Sylvia Garcia Escalante, born on August 10, 1967, in Las Cruces, NM, passed away surrounded by her loving family on June 13, 2026. A cherished mother, daughter, and caregiver, Sylvia dedicated her life to nurturing those around her. Graduating high school in Germany, she often reminisced about her time abroad, sharing stories that brought laughter to her family gatherings.
A proud grandmother, Sylvia found immense joy in spending time with her grandbabies, nieces, and nephews. Known for her infectious smile and loving spirit, she always lent a helping hand and was loved by everyone who knew her. Sylvia's passion for crafts and her love for dolphins reflected her vibrant personality and the creativity she instilled in her family.

Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Monica Duran, and Angelina Escalante; her son, Eddie Duran; her siblings, Viola, Sam, and Abel Escalante; and a host of family and friends including her grandchildren 8, who will forever remember her kind heart and compassionate nature. Sylvia will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and generosity will continue to shine through all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 6pm in the Getz Funeral Home Chapel, with recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at 7pm. The Funeral Liturgy is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 10AM at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church. Cremation arrangements will be carried out at later date.
