In Loving Memory of Victor Martinez Jr.

February 26, 1943 – June 7, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved husband, a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Victor Martinez Jr., who entered eternal rest on June 7, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born on February 26, 1943, in Bronx, New York, Victor was a man whose love was boundless. He dedicated his life to his wife and family, always putting the needs of his family before his own. His strength, faith, and selflessness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

To his children, he was far more than a father — he was a source of wisdom, comfort, laughter, and unconditional love. He taught his family how to find joy even during life’s hardest moments, how to remain strong through challenges.

Victor proudly worked at NASA until his retirement, a career that brought him great joy and fulfillment. He loved his work, valued helping others, and formed many lasting friendships along the way. When he wasn’t working, he would be in the shop working on his next car project. He was a mechanic for many many years and he had a love for classic muscle cars. That’s pretty much where his kids got the love for those types of vehicles as well as we all own one. Whether at work, with family, or among friends, Victor had an amazing way of making people feel welcomed, valued, respected and loved.

Throughout his life, Victor shared his heart freely. He offered encouragement without hesitation, listened without judgment, and loved with all his heart. To many, he was lovingly known as “Papo” or “Rocky,” titles that reflected the love and respect he extended not only to his family, but also to the countless friends who became family throughout his life.

Victor is survived by his beloved wife, the love of his life for almost 59 years, Alejandra Martinez; his son, Victor Manuel Martinez, and wife Norma; his daughter, Elizabeth Martinez Libbey, and her husband Bruce; and his son, David Martinez, and his wife Enduvijes, sister’s Jane Martinez and Sandra Martinez and brother Herbert Martinez

He leaves behind a loving legacy through his grandchildren: Victoria Sarabia and her husband Clayton; Krystyna Korenek and her husband Justin, along with their children, Kannon and Kirby; Patricia Watkins and her husband Lane, along with their children Daniel, Renesme, and Lane; Bianca Martinez and Alexa Martinez; Rosie Wells and her two children; and Krista Martinez and her four children, Josephine Martinez, David Martinez Jr and Tino Martinez.

In addition to his immediate family, Victor leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were touched by his love and respect.

Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we find comfort in knowing that his suffering has ended and that he is resting peacefully. His love, lessons, faith, and memories will continue to live on through his family and all who knew him.

While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well lived — a life filled with love, faith, sacrifice, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family.

Victor will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 pm on Thursday June 11, 2026 at Getz Funeral Home, followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 1:30 pm on Friday June 12, 2026 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. Followed by a burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
