Vincent Boudreau, a longtime resident of Las Cruces, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at the age of 97, surrounded by his family.
Vincent was born in El Paso in 1928 and grew up in Carlsbad. He served in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Treasure Island Naval Station in San Francisco Bay, and graduated from the Navy's electronics school in Monterey, California. After his service, the GI Bill carried him to New Mexico State University, where he earned his degree in electrical engineering.
His career took him to Europe with Bell Labs and later to White Sands Missile Range, where he served as Chief of the High Energy Laser Division.
Vincent was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and gave generously to the city he called home. He served 13 years on the Las Cruces Board of Education, including a year as president of the New Mexico School Boards Association. As a longtime member of the Lions Club, he was named a Melvin Jones Fellow in recognition of his years of service.
He is survived by Diana, his wife of 72 years; their five children; two grandsons; and their daughter-in-law.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Vincent's caregivers, Dante, Jasmine, Ruthie, Michelle, and Rachel, and to his hospice nurses from Mesilla Valley Hospice, Erica and Erin, for their compassion and care.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made in Vincent's memory to Mesilla Valley Hospice.
A celebration of Vincent's life will be held Friday, December 4, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Tortugas, New Mexico.
