Joe Robert Florez March 20, 1946 – December 9, 2025

Robert Joe Florez, 79, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025. He was born on March 20, 1946, in Pecos, Texas, to Ruben Florez and Faye Chavira.

Robert grew up in Pecos Texas and attended Jesuit Catholic School. He later attended the Arizona Automotive Institute, where he strengthened his lifelong passion for mechanics.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he developed the discipline, resilience, and strong work ethic that shaped much of his life. His time in the service instilled in him a deep sense of responsibility and patriotism, qualities he carried with him long after his military years. Robert often spoke with pride about his service, and the values he learned in the Army guided how he raised his family, approached challenges, and supported those around him.

Robert is survived by his wife, Martha Fajardo; his sons Mark Florez, Alvaro Florez, and Matthew Fajardo; and his daughter-in-law Christy Florez. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, including Jacqueline Florez and Alvaro Florez, along with several other beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters Sulema Ybarra and Elvia Rodriguez.

Robert is preceded in death by his Father Ruben Florez, Mother Faye Chavira, brothers Arturo Florez and Eloy Florez, and sister Aurelia Lozoya.

Robert will be remembered for his love of football as a proud Dallas Cowboys fan, his enjoyment of UFC fight nights, his warm heart, and his dedication to his family. He touched many lives with his humor, strength, and tough-love personality.

Services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Getz Funeral Home beginning with a Public Viewing at 1:30pm and rosary at 2:30pm Followed by Funeral Mass at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church at 4:00pm

Pallbearers: Alvaro Florez Jr, Matthew Fajardo, Sylvia Jaso, Simon Jaso Jr, James Edwards, and Dennis Florez.

Robert’s family extends heartfelt thanks to all who have offered love and support during this time. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
